PREREQUISITES FOR COMMISSIONING

  1. Be a confirmed member of a member congregation of the LCMS

  2. Sign the commissioning form and, if under 18 years of age, also have parent or guardian sign

  3. Be commissioned publicly

Requirements to be commissioned:

  1. Attend at least 2 complete OAFC weekends 
  2. Memorize first 2 basic witnessing methods (Good News, Sin-Separation-Savior) 
  3. Make one full survey/witness call at a home 

Requirements to serve on a National Travel Team:

When a Commissioned Ambassador has attended at least one previous Summer Training, they are eligible to serve on a National Travel Team. In addition, they must be recommended by their local director and invited to serve by the OAFC staff; they must demonstrate that they have:

  1. Memorized third basic witnessing method (Assurance of Heaven)
  2. Written and publicly presented a Personal Witness
  3. A willingness to take on specific duties as assigned
  4. The maturity needed to be a valuable team member

Active Ambassadors are eligible to renew their commissioned status each year and are encouraged to grow in faith, skills and service in the many ways that are offered through the ministry of OAFC. (A few examples are listed below).

  1. Memorize the Cross Witnessing Method
  2. Share 10 or more Bible passages and their location from memory
  3. Memorize the OAFC Small Group Bible Study outline
  4. Serve as Registration Secretary (Friday Night Secretary Duties)
  5. Serve as Survey Preparations Secretary (Saturday Morning Secretary Duties)
  6. Serve as Survey Recording Secretary (Saturday Afternoon through Sunday Secretary Duties) 

It is the prayer and goal of the directors and staff of OAFC that the youth grow in their leadership skills and their desire to share their faith so that they can be increasingly involved in leadership positions. We are thankful that that goal is being realized in many groups.
